Bone preparation is the first step of endo-osseous dental implantation. Before the advent

Several bits of increasing diameter were often used successively to obtain a bore hole
of appropriate size for the implant. The C.L.G. concept revolutionizes the surgical technique.
The implant itself serves as the boring instrument, so the bore hole is exactly the right size.
Bone-implant contact is crucial for successful implantation. The goal is to achieve an intimate
contact between the bone and the implant by perfectly adapting the bone cavity to the dimensions
of the implant.
A major technical challenge for the dental surgeon, perfect bone-implant contact is quite
difficult to achieve. Even with highly calibrated instruments, the most skillful dental
surgeon still may be unable to create a cavity exactly adapted to the dimensions of the implant.
Mobility of the implant within the cavity is a source of failure and even a tiny misfit may
compromise outcome.

The self-boring implant bears a tip which cuts the bone to the
exact dimensions of the implant. Holes in the shaft of the implant allow the bone debris to enter
its inner canal where they form an autologous bone graft embedded in the implant.
Threading is achieved by the implant
itself. The implant is both self-boring and self-threading. Insertion
of the implant reams out the bone cavity and threads it to the exact
dimensions of the implant.
